I don't think you have the correct SMTP server name. Verizon's online email setup information is a bit of a mess esuaceb they have four different email systems. You will have to pick out the one that applies to you and follow the prompts: http://www.verizon.net/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=vzc_help_selection#
Also, it is unlikely that you should be using the SSL option. Turn off the SSL option by going to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced.
